At Arapaho UMC, advocating for justice is one of the core pillars. Our commitment to racial justice is actively pursued through the "Journey Toward Racial Justice (J2RJ)" group, which hosts monthly gatherings featuring fellowship, expert speakers, and occasional trips. These events often include collaboration with our friends from Hamilton Park UMC.
On Saturday, September 21, from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm (in The Fellowship Hall), we are excited to invite you to a Racial Healing Circle, facilitated by the esteemed Quodesia "Quo" Johnson. This transformative experience will bring together current J2RJ participants, Leadership Board members, and staff for a powerful journey toward racial healing.
Why a Racial Healing Circle, and why now? As J2RJ shifts from exploring history to practicing racial justice within our community at Arapaho, we’re entering a crucial phase focused on creating tangible impact. This workshop is designed to guide us in understanding and practicing racial equity.
Childcare available with registration (click here).
Racial healing is the foundation of racial equity. It involves:
The personal work that drives systemic transformation.
Confronting and acknowledging past injustices and their ongoing effects.
Repairing the damage caused by racism.
Replacing entrenched systems that perpetuate racism with ones that honor the inherent worth of all people.
Building authentic relationships across differences.
You are invited to this impactful workshop as we embark on a new chapter in our journey toward justice.
