On Sunday, November 12, ALL of AUMC will attend worship at Hamilton Park UMC at 10:00 am, followed by a community meal at 11:00 am. To be clear: There will be no Sunday morning programming (including Sunday classes and Worship) at AUMC on this day.
Why are we doing this?
Our HVAC in the Sanctuary has been on its last legs for some time now, and for nearly 20 months we have been awaiting the arrival of a new HVAC to replace it. That day has finally come, and we will be unable to use the Sanctuary on Sunday, Nov. 12, as part of that installation process. Hamilton Park UMC (“The Park”) is a key partner church, and when their congregation was displaced following the Winter Storm event in 2021, we welcomed their congregation into our Sanctuary for worship during the summer months. Now, we come full circle and will be embracing their hospitality for this special Sunday of worship.
What can I expect at “The Park”?
Worship starts at 10am, and The Park traditionally honors Veterans Day on this particular weekend; if you (or a loved one) would like to be included in the recognition of veterans as part of the day, please email judy@arapahoumc.org with name, branch, rank and picture no later than October 23rd.
The Park is a cornerstone of the black church community in the DFW area, and music is led in the gospel style. It will be beautiful and lively, so come ready to clap! Dr. Sheron Patterson (Sr. Pastor, The Park) and I will offer a tag-team sermon. Children’s programming will be provided by the leadership of The Park and supported by AUMC childcare staff.
RSVP’s
In order to make sure we are prepared for both worship and the following community meal, we are asking those who plan to attend to please RSVP so that we can have a good estimate for childcare and food needs.
To be clear: RSVP is not required in order to attend, just strongly encouraged.
