Arapaho UMC's "Dinner and Documentary" series is back with a thought-provoking and impactful film. On Sunday, September 15, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, come gather in the fellowship hall for a potluck dinner followed by the screening of the feature documentary "1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture."

AUMC will provide meat/protein for the potluck, and you are invited to bring a salad, side dish, or dessert to share. This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a meal together and engage in meaningful conversation.

About the Documentary

"1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture" is a compelling documentary that delves into the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians. It reveals how a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946 has shaped attitudes and prejudices for nearly a century. The film features the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University, presenting astonishing revelations that challenge the biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice.

The documentary includes commentary from prominent scholars, opposing pastors, and the personal stories of the film’s creators. It goes beyond addressing the symptoms of homophobia in the church and tackles the root cause - Biblical Literalism.
