Warming Station Info Session

  • Arapaho United Methodist Church 1400 West Arapaho Road Richardson, TX, 75080 United States (map)

Have you ever wondered where our unhoused neighbors go when the winter cold becomes unbearable? Back in 2018, Pastor Cathy Sweeney, alongside four other leaders in Plano, took action and helped establish the Plano Overnight Warming Station (POWS).

POWS provides a warm and welcoming space at The Salvation Army or the East Plano Islamic Center, where our unhoused neighbors can receive a hot meal, access a clothes closet, address basic medical needs, and get a good night's sleep. Seven dedicated teams rotate on event nights to offer transportation, serve meals, and provide support to those in need.

Arapaho UMC is proud to have a team of volunteers who step up when called to serve. On October 6, after worship (about 12:15 pm), you are invited to join in Room 1 to hear inspiring stories from our AUMC volunteers and learn how you can get involved this season. Come see how you can make a difference and help bring warmth and care to our community. No RSVP Necessary.
