Where are our neighbors suffering, and how can we help relieve that suffering? For our next quarterly "Understanding Poverty" book club read, we will dive into "Broke in America: Seeing, Understanding, and Ending U.S. Poverty.” In this 2021 book, JoAnne Samuel Goldblum and Colleen Shaddox explore life in poverty in the US. Do our public policies harm or help? What steps can be taken to end poverty for good? Are we courageous enough to embrace those changes?
In this time together, we'll review the thesis of the book and the solutions proposed. We will consider how to apply those solutions in our own community. Please register to join this important discussion. We will meet at Corner Bakery at Coit and Campbell from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm.
