Pastor Cathy Sweeney recently completed the prestigious Summer Academy Certification Program at Georgetown University's Center for Faith & Justice. This intensive program was led by Jim Wallis, the inaugural chair of the Center, renowned for his work in social justice and faith-based advocacy. Over the course of the weeklong session, Pastor Cathy engaged deeply with a variety of critical topics, gaining valuable insights and perspectives.

On Sunday, August 25 at 3:30 pm (in Room 40), Pastor Cathy will share the profound learnings from her time at Georgetown. She will focus particularly on understanding Christian Nationalism, examining why it poses a significant threat to both the faith community and society at large. Pastor Cathy will delve into the historical and contemporary aspects of this ideology, unpacking its implications and the dangers it presents. Additionally, she will explore how our faith not only calls us to recognize these threats but also compels us to speak out and act in the public square with courage and conviction. Through her insights, Pastor Cathy aims to inspire and equip others to engage in meaningful dialogue and advocacy grounded in faith and justice.
