You are invited to come indulge in pancakes and listen to some New Orleans Jazz favorites. This event is held in celebration of the start of the Lenten season, and the tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove (or Fat) Tuesday. Gather your family, some friends, or neighbors and have a fun night filled with music and community on February 13 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall at Arapaho United Methodist Church.
Shrove Tuesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, has roots in the Christian tradition as a day to use up rich and indulgent foods before the start of the Lenten season of fasting and sacrifice. The idea behind this was to use up ingredients that were traditionally avoided during Lent, such as sugar, butter, and eggs, to create pancakes. This practice has evolved into the Pancake Supper tradition we know today, where communities come together to enjoy pancakes, music, and each other's company. It serves as a final celebration before the start of the solemn season of Lent, making it a special and memorable event for many.
